Early July: Summer Celebrations Begin
First Thursday Downtown Greenfield — July 2, 6:00–9:00 PM at the Greenfield Courthouse Lawn

Festival of the Bells — Hillsboro — July 2–4 in Uptown Hillsboro
One of the summer’s biggest events, Festival of the Bells brings three days of food vendors, family activities, and live concerts to downtown Hillsboro. Highlights include:
- 5K Race and Kids Fun Run on July 4
- Multiple concert performances throughout the festival
- Food and activities for all ages
Boomin’ in the Boro Fireworks — July 3 at 10:00 PM, Highland County Fairgrounds
The area’s main fireworks display draws families from across Southern Ohio. Free admission, family-friendly atmosphere.
Rocky Fork Lake 4th of July Parade — July 4 at 10:00 AM
The traditional parade route runs from Beechwood Pizza to Rocky Fork State Park, featuring floats, marching bands, and classic cars.
Concert at The Patriot Public House — July 4 at 9:00 PM
Live rock and blues music from Sick Serenity for those looking for evening entertainment on Independence Day.
Mid-July: America 250th Celebration
July 17–18, 2026 — Hillsboro and Highland County
Highland County is hosting a special two-day celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
July 17: Theatrical reenactment of the 1954 Philip Partridge Trial at Southern State Community College (7:00 PM)
July 18: Full day of activities including:
- Guided courthouse tours at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM (featuring Ohio’s oldest continuously used courthouse)
- Pioneer demonstrations and historical exhibits
- 6:00 PM unveiling of the Revolutionary War Memorial
- 7:00 PM “living history” concert by the Hillsboro Military Band
